I still can't quite believe it: together with Baxker, our new song "Sick and Tired" entered the Austrian Spotify Viral Charts as the highest new entry, straight in at number 2. And from there it kept climbing.
What the Viral Charts mean to me
The Spotify Viral Charts are something like a global early-warning system for musical trends: they show which songs people are sharing and adding to their playlists right now. Being right up front there tells me our music is really reaching people at the moment. Artists like Billie Eilish or Lil Nas X had their first breakthroughs through exactly these charts, which makes me even prouder.
Charting in twelve countries
What happened next is something I never would have dreamed of: in Austria, "Sick and Tired" worked its way all the way up to number 1 of the Viral Charts, and the song charted in twelve countries in total. We were right at the top in Czechia (number 2), Germany (number 3) and Estonia (number 4), plus top 10 in Slovakia, Finland and Switzerland. It also charted in Hungary, Sweden, Norway, Latvia and Denmark. Seeing that what we do here lands all across Europe is an indescribable feeling.
Over 3.4 million streams
In the first few weeks alone, "Sick and Tired" was playing around 25,000 times a day. By now the song has gathered over 3.4 million streams on Spotify, and new ones keep coming in every day.
A classic, reimagined
"Sick and Tired" is a high-energy drum and bass cover of Anastacia's millennium hit. Baxker and I wanted to take a song that a lot of people already have in their ears and reinvent it for today's generation. Anastacia's original was the perfect blueprint for that: a strong melody and a timeless feel.
"We worked on 'Sick and Tired' together for a long time. From the very start I believed this song would hit, but seeing it go through the roof like this is an unbelievable feeling." (Baxker)
Thank you to everyone sharing, streaming and adding us to their playlists, you are the ones making this happen right now. Have a listen here.
